Our little stray has an appt this after noon at 2pm to get all checked out. Based on the age that the vet says he is will determine how much it will be to declaw (I will not sacrifice my furniture for this stray) and neuter him. Hopefully he is under 6 months so we can get the kitten discount, I think he is right around 6 months so we'll see.
To hold everyone over, here is a picture of him. His is so scrawny right now (if he becomes a member of our family that will soon change, lol)
Re: f/up to kitten
OMG I love the kitten. You need to keep him! What did DH name him??

Love & luck to my 3TC girls. Congrats to Omega-The boys are here!
If there's one thing I've learned while waiting my turn,
it's that in each life some rain falls but you also get some sun.
After 2 years & 2 losses, our little man arrived 8-2011.
DH named hom Brodix (they make car engines) and wants to call him Brody for short.
All of our animals are named after cars or car part makers:
Hudson - Car (like Hudson the hornet in car's the movie)
Holley - is a carburetor manufacture
Mason - a car made in 1913 that did not make it
How cute! We have always had all of our cats declawed (front only in case they get out), but a few months ago we brought in a stray and he doesn't scratch anything, but his scratching post.
I was pretty skeptical at first and told DH if I ever saw him scratching the furniture I would have him declawed, but so far so good!
Maybe you could give it a try for a week or 2 since I know declawing is expensive and not very comfortable for the kitten.

He is such a sweetie!
As a fellow animal/cat lover I really recommend not declawing. It is very inhumane (basically cutting the tip off of their "fingers") and may not be necessary. Some cats won't claw the furniture if you buy them something else to claw. You can also use Soft Paws which are very effective. I know that you don't want an animal detroying your stuff but there are alternatives to declawing. Talk to the vet about different options.
