Ideas?

My DH is a graphic artist and has started working on designing our baby announcements.  We want to include a line or two from a song that would refer to a baby, a girl, love....something like that.  He found something from The Cure, but it's such an obscure song and I'm not totally in love with it.  We both are children of the 80's and love the old school music - especially the alternative kind of stuff (i.e. The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Police, etc.).

Anything come to mind?  I'm gonna have to go through our song list on the iPod and mentally review lyrics....

I know this song has nothing to do with babies, but Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode has the lines:

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms

And there's always the line, Every little thing she does is magic, from The Police song.

I'm sure there are many others...I'll try to think of some more.

Oooh... old school Depeche Mode.  I'm a huge 80s music fan (Duranie through and through) and love that idea.  The Police lyrics are nice, too.

Very cool about your DH designing the announcement, Carla. I'm a graphic artist myself (albeit not working in the field currently) and my DH wants a traditional announcement, so I'm going how he prefers.

He gets to suffer with a photo holiday card. ;-)

I can't really think of anything at the moment but I really think that is cool to have such a personal birth announcement. I wish I was that creative!

DM and the Cure were two of my faves from high school (and still are)!!! I just saw The Cure last year. It was an amazing show.

Unfortunately, I can only think of songs like Master and Servant right now... not really appropriate.

I like the earlier Police suggestion.

Ooh, love the idea of song lyrics!!! I may have to steal that since DH is a Creative Designer as well. He has already designed ours but copy can always be changed!! Jeez I stole the magnet announcement idea from JenTCU and now the lyrics from you!

DH actually has lyrics from "Caterpillar Girl" from The Cure right now.  He considered "Lullaby", but since it's about a spider he nixed it.  I love "Love Song"....

Carla... besides the Cure and DM, who else do you like?   To me, the Cure is a little, um, goth.. and I'm a huge fan of them, too.  Drove 6 hours once to see them in St. Louis, but that was years and years ago!

I do like the Police song, tho.
