Am I the only one having trouble posting today?
My first RE appt was long, about 2.5 hours. We first me with the RE to discuss our medical histories and the possible steps we would need to take depending on his findings. We then moved to the exam room where he did an internal ultrasound. This will let the RE see your uterus, ovaries and follicles depending on where you are in your cycle. We had blood work done, about 9 vials I think. We then met with the nurse to discuss our treatment options based on the REs findings. Finally, we met with the financial coordinator to discuss insurance coverage, service fees and payment. Good luck, momagain!
TTC since 3/08
DOR, High FSH, Hypothyroid, Uterine Polyps, blocked tube, MFI,
5 rounds of clomid, 5 IVF attempts, 2 hysteroscopies,
2 natural conceptions=2 losses (Methotrexate, D&C)
Successful DE cycle twins born 10/7/11
Mine was pretty easy. We met in the doctor's office, not an exam room. We talked about medical histories, DH's success, went over DH's SA results, went through all of my testing results (HSG and CD21). He then had me do the CD3 bloodwork and prescribed me Femara. I had already tried a month of clomid with the OB and the OB had me do the preliminary testing. The RE told us at the first meeting that we could be candidates for IUI and that we could up the anty with injectibles if we wanted. I came out feeling like we had options and hope. I really like him. Good luck at your appointment!

My 1st appt. was pretty laid back and "non-invasive", but it sounds like all RE's are different. I spoke with another office in my town that said expect to be at your first appt. for 4 hours!!!
Basic medical history for DH and me. Shared my charts and test info from OB-GYN's office. Then he wrote up orders to repeat my CD 3 bloodwork and DH's SA since what the OB-GYN ordered was not sufficient. We set up an appointment to come back in a month (if not PG) to do go over test results, do an exam and ultrasound and discuss the HSG. He also said that since I had a loss if I did happen to get PG he would like to monitor the pregnancy for the 1st 2 months so that we could hopefully get a better result.
Going to the RE was the best thing we've done so far in the journey. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to hearing your update.
Re: What to expect...
Hope I'm not too late.
