they are flat on the back, so no where for a hook. and we are having a boy so ribbon doesn't seem right at all. any ideas that don't involve super gluing them to the drywall?
you can buy little hangers somewhere like walmart, lowes, or homedepot.
What's your nursery theme, you could also do bandanas, rope, or leather straps instead of ribbon. Although a dark color ribbon wouldn't make them too girly.

We used the same letters for Ian's room. We just used a hook set from Michaels crafts store. The hook nailed to the wall and the letter had a little loop that hung on it. Make sense? We didnt want ribbon either.
You could also drill a hole in the back of each of the letters 2 on the bigger letters like M's, W's, etc. and then just put a nail in the wall and let the nail rest inside each hole.
When DS had letters on his wall we had the same kind. We bought picture hangers and glued them to the back of the letter and just used a nail for hanging.
Ribbon would work fine if you don't do a bow at the top. Just glue the two ends of the ribbon to the back of the letter to form a loop.
3M makes a great hanging product that's stick-on and completely removable- we used them for some light weight mirrors in a bathroom, and they haven't budged in over 4 years, but, DO come off easily when you want them too. They're probably your easiest bet.
I second the 3M adhesive picture hanging strips - they are awesome! Hell, they've held our gallery frames in the hallway during earthquakes without a problem but are easy to remove if needed.

You can buy picture hangers (look in the frame dept). They are shaped like little triangles.
This is what I was going to use until I found some white primed letters at Michael's that already came with holes in the back to hang.
