I'm a member of a few on Meetup.com. One of the most active for younger babies (as opposed to "toddlers" which seems to mean 3+ sometimes) is Big City Babies. There's also the Chicago Stay at Home Mom Board and some others. Where in Chicago do you live? That makes a difference.
I'd definately recommend Big City Babies and Chicago Stay at Home Moms. I'm assuming you're home during the day for playdates, though. If not there are most probably working mom groups that are geared towards weekends and mom's night out stuff.
Both of the above-mentioned groups meet at parks and such along the lake or on the N side -- esp. Big City Babies.
we have a group in rivernorth that is growing. They are listed on meetup.com. Also, we joined the North Side Parents Network...they have all sorts of activities for just moms or for the full family or for playdates. There is a membership fee, I think $40 a year, but it seems to be worth it because of all of the info and activities.
