How do I get dd to wear hats?

Maddie does not like winter hats because they are tight and hot on her head.  Since she could move her arms she has been ripping them off. She is starting preschool in a few weeks, and they do play outside in the winter.  They make them wear hats, and I can see her fighting with the teacher about it.  She'll wear her hood but that doesn't last long either.

I dunno, to be honest I'd probably let preschool figure it out.  She may decide to wear one when she sees everyone else doing it.
