What does/did your pedi say about sterilizing bottles?

We had Kaya's check up today and when I asked about pumping and using bottles- I mentioned sterilizing them. Our pedi (the same we had with C) said there was no need, just use hot soapy water to clean them each time. HMMM, thats SO not what she said 3 years ago and I am sure things may have changed, but I was just wondering what advice yours gave pertaining to bottles?

On a good note K now weighs more than she did at birth- a whopping 8lbs 1oz... still a peanut in my book! But I am glad that the bf is working and she is getting enough- now if we could just improve her latch lol!

I don't know how the pedi feels about sterilization.  Never asked.  I never sterilized anything.  I just used warm tap water to make formula and made it as I needed it.  Yep, I didn't even premake bottles.  ::gasp::

They never said anything.

You can do whatever you feel comfortable with. I always sterilized but if I had a second, I'd probably just do it once and that's it.

He's never said anything about sterilizing.  I was under the impression that hot soapy water would suffice.  Also, running them through the dishwasher works.  I sterilized stuff when DS was a baby.  With DD?   Yeah, not so much!

My pedi never said anything and I never sterlized - just used hot, soapy water.

our pedi in VA said to sterilize, we now live in NY and they said no need unless its well water.  ugh, I still sterilize

He said sterilize them once, then don't bother.  Unless she got sick (sore throator flu sick), then either sterilize the nipples,  pacis and toothbrushes or toss them an buy new.

He has never mentoned it but I have always done it for both LO's.  That is just what I feel comfortable doing.

I don't sterilize anything really. Not even when I buy things usually! I have sterilized pacis that got lost under the bed for a few months, but not on a regular basis!

She said (when DS was a newborn) to boil them for a minute before using them the first time, but after that, no need to bother. Once he got older, I just ran them through the dishwasher before using them the first time.
