Chipped front tooth?

Anyone's LO chip their tooth?  I mean it probably bound to happen as they learn to walk.  Its just a tiny little chip on the corner, now his one tooth isn't quite so "square"  I don't think its noticible for others but it makes me sad.   I mean he'll have these teeth for many more years...

Re: Chipped front tooth?

  • My friend's little boy chipped his pretty badly around his 18 month mark. It's fang-like (poor guy!)

  • DS has a tiny chip on one of his bottom teeth- not big enough for anyone else to notice. He did it at 8 months- I still cringe every time he falls face first.
  • Apparently its not that uncommon, as I know several kids who have either chipped or knocked out their teeth.  The dentist won't do anything since its a baby tooth.  Don't be sad, i'm sure its kinda cute!
  • I haven't noticed yet--but he bit his lip when he fell the other day--and the scab keeps bleeding.  Poor guy.

I will say--chipped teeth suck when you are older though.  I chipped mine after my adult teeth came in---needed root canals and a crown.  Sucked.  So better that it's their baby teeth--at least they'll be lost and I think the front teeth come out first, right?

  • Both of DD#2's front teeth are chipped, but they're minor.  One time she fell and the other time she pulled a patio chair onto herself.  Neither one is sharp though and you don't notice them unless it's pointed out.

  • My son chipped the corner of his around 9 months. Luckily its not too noticeable.
  • DD chipped her front tooth, it is very noticeable, ugh and sharp.  The dentist has filed it so it isn't as sharp, but we will have it fixed as soon as she is old enough to sit still for the procedure.  The Pedi dentist said she typically doesn't recommend fixing baby tooth chips, but since it is so noticeable and DD was a late teether, she will more than likely be 6 or 7 before she loses that tooth and we don't want her to be made fun of in preschool, elem school.... kids can be mean.
