This is just a little vent. I follow the directions to a T on what papers to send in and it still isn't.
Directions state to send copies of registration and insurance cards for all vehicles, so I do. The registration and insurance cards were fine to get us approved as foster parents.
I just had to update them again since I got a new car. Apparantly, now the rule is that I have to send the Declaration Sheet. It is not a big deal because I have it, but please put that in the directions instead of sending me a condescending e-mail stating, "this is OK for now, but...."
The receptionist at our agency is not nice, not efficient and not very smart. She couldn't even change the e-mail address she had on file to my new one. Grrr...
Re: Vent: RE: Paperwork
That happened to us, kind of. They asked us for a list of things. During our initial visit our family development specialist mentioned we might need x or y, but they both prove the same thing, so just one or the other... We copied both, and she later said "oh great, I was going to tell you we changed our policy and need both now" I'm glad we did that would've set us back a few weeks!
It's frustrating, because like you said, if you follow the directions to the T you'd hope that was correct.
Could you say something to someone about the receptionist?
In my case it wasn't the receptionist that was infuriating, but the supervisor of the homestudy unit. I have mentioned my displeasure to my SW, but she just glosses it over. I think this happens a lot in adoptions, when each worker just focuses on their own little portion of your case.
I will be letting the director know how I really feel once we have our child home and everything is finalized.I think the problem is often that before families reach that step they are afraid to make waves, and after they are just so happy to have their children home they don't bother bringing up their concerns.
I hope things go smoother for you, and that the receptionist is the only weak link you encounter on your journey!
This. We are having problems with everyone saying I don't do that part. Then I say I am ready and willing to do whatever just tell me what you want. When we get DD home we plan on complaining. I don't want anyone mad becuse we are so close so I beg weekly. I have saved all be begging e-mails so we will see if it does any good.
