I've had 3 internals so far and the first two were a breeze. But the doctors just used their fingers and felt around, slightly pressing down on my belly.
The only internal that hurt me was this past Monday, since I mentioned to the doctor that I had a watery discharge. To make sure it wasn't amniotic fluid, she used a speculum. THAT hurt. And I bled after and spotted all day yesterday. But a regular internal didn't hurt.
It's not that bad and its quick so just take a deep breath and it will be over fast. I had a lot of PT contractions with DD and had several checks for that--I would describe it as a the dr giving you a quick jab to the cervix.
It won't be anything you can't handle, I'm sure....the midwife did an internal on me this week when I went in for bleeding. When she just used her fingers, it didn't hurt. When she used the speculum, it was uncomfortable I'll admit that - but not anything I would be scared of if I had to do it again. You'll be fine!!

I had 2 with different doctors. The first one was a breeze but the second one hurt a little and I had spotting afterwards. I think that second doctor (a male, first one was female) was too rough. Not going to that one again.
