making baby food - peas?

for those that make your own baby food, how did you make your peas. did you strain them to get rid of the skin or just keep them chunky with the skin in. or did you just buy peas in baby food form already?

i just made a batch tonight and i think they are gross with the skins in there.

ETA: i'm talking peas puree if that isn't clear.

Re: making baby food - peas?

  • i did them whole, left them slightly chunky and froze them in cubes. she likes them, but not as much as some other foods.

  • I'd try and squeeze them out/ press through a strainer, but it was a pita. I just left skin on and it was fine for little dude.

  • i used frozen organic peas- boiled them and then pureed.  they were silky smooth!
  • hmm, i used frozen peas and steamed them. mollie- maybe i'll try boiling them next time. or maybe she'll just get the gerber variety until she takes them just mashed and not pureed. Smile thanks for the feedback.

  • Peas are very similar to green beans.  I did like MrsRosie, except I didnt run them through a strainer.  DD has gotton used to the tecture and takes them without me running them through.  I just steam 2 bags of organic frozen peas, then stick em in the food processor and puree them to death.
