My DD & I walked over to the coffeeshop across the street (I used to work there) to color & get out the house before the rain came. We were alright until people I know started showing up & making comments, asking stupid questions, & just interrupting us.
First was "How do you not know you're not having twins? You didn't find out the gender" She didn't know that they give you an ultrasound to determine the growth & health of the baby.. just what color to paint things.
Then from some friends who went to Texas overnight "I thought you would have that baby out by now"
Then what seems to be the question of the day "Why don't you just have a c-section? We want to see the baby! Quit hiding the baby!"
Even my DD piped up to say "The baby will come out when it is ready! It's cooking!!"
That's just the more unique ones.. I got the usual "you look huge", "you're about to pop", "you're still pregnant?", "when do you think you will have the baby?", "you should have the baby on *thisday* because it's my birthday/anniversary/the carpet guy is coming by & I am super excited", & my favorite "does it feel like a boy or a girl?"
bah *headdesk* I quit
Re: Can I just stay in my house until LO arrives?
I get the daily texts and the daily fb posts... "why hasnt your water broke yet?? " "are u still pregnant? GOSH!!"
I want to punch them all in the face!!!!
I just can't wait till some of these ladies are pregnant.. I am going to call them every damn day & ask them if they've had the baby yet..
*grumble*
Everyone seems to know that I am going in for my induction on Sunday (the baby isn't growing well and is in the 1st percentile). My job recruiter, the people who are interviewing me for jobs and fellowship (including the receptionist at the office), everyone at work (like 70-80 people), the mailman, and everyone in the family. It's on FB. Everyone still asks when I'm having the baby. I know it's not foremost in their minds like it is in mine, but we've known since 29 weeks when the baby would be coming. Even though our baby has problems and I'm not thrilled about delivering early, I'm glad I don't have to endure these questions for possibly 4-5 more weeks!
I already told DH my phone will be off during the induction because I will be annoyed by any interruptions. I am hoping he understands that means his phone should be off too, since I think it will take at least 2 days to have this kiddo. Sigh. It's bad enough I'm delivering where I work and they'll all be coming by to say hi at odd hours, but.... The extra phone calls would cause me to kill an innocent bystander!
I was in Target today with my DH after my dr's appt...and some random lady came up to me and said "Oh My Gosh, you look like you're about to pop!" and then preceeded to ask me a million questions that random ladies in Target should NOT be asking!!!
I think this was the first time it actually was insulting to hear pregnant comments. I've only gained 23 lbs, I'm having twins, I'm measuring like I'm 41 wks with a singleton. But I'm very small, at least according to my doc. So to hear some random woman tell me that, totally pissed me off the rest of the night!!!
