Lump in my armpit

Anyone else experience this?  It kind of makes me worried.  It's about the size of a pea...maybe a little smaller.

It's a little sore and to my knowledge cancer isn't really sore.  I am going to ask my OB to check it out Thurs while I'm there for my appt.

Anyone else have something like this?

  • Infected sweat gland from shaving?  Thats what mine was.

  • I had one - it turned out to be a clogged sweat gland.  Mine was sore as well.  It cleared up on it's own.

  • never had it but I think you are right cancer wouldn't hurt....perhaps its like a calcium deposit? if you have as much calcium every day as you did today....lol...

  • I'm wondering if it's just a gland.  Especially since I've been so hot and sweaty.  Hopefully it will clear up...or at least get smaller by Thurs when I have my appt.

  • Likely either an ingrown hair or an enlarged lymph node, I've had both before.
  • I'm sure it's an ingrown hair but I think that some cancer lumps can hurt (not to scare you Amy, I'm sure it's nothing).  My grandmother who has dementia kept complaining that she had a sore spot under her arm and it turned out that it is cancer.  I don't know to what degree it hurt since she's pretty out of it.

Had this once too (before PG). It was an ingrown hair. A little exfoliation scrub, and tweezed the hair once I could see it. Presto the lump was gone.

  • Lots of great responses. I'd still mention it to the doctor to rule anything out. ;-) Hopefully by the time you even see him it'll be gone.

  • That happens to me from time to time and it always goes away after a few days. To me, it feels like a swollen lymph node because it's kind of like a knot inside. I hope yours turns out to be nothing big!

  • Yes, I, too, had swollen lymph nodes in both armpits at the same time.  They were sore and about the size of little marbles, under my skin, so that may be what you have. They gave me antibiotics for it. I wasn't pregnant at the time, but I was on antibiotics during pregnancy for something else. If it turns out to be your lymph nodes, there is a treatment, so don't worry.  They told me the swelling was a symptom of an infection in my body.
  • Mine got to be a little smaller than a golfball...it was huge and painful and it was just an infected sweat gland.  You could try a warm compress, its supposed to help. My OB gave me anti-biotics and told me not to shave for awhile. Im sure thats all it is! Dont worry!
