Yeah, its super expensive and IMO not worth it. I saw it at the Land of Nod and it was cute but I did not see it as something very practical. You pretty much have to take the whole thing apart every time you want to fold it/store it. I like to carry my stroller in the car about 80% of the time.
Actually, you don;t have to take it apart when putting it in your car - all you have to do is unclip the rumble seat which takes about a second... I saw it (and put DD in it) at Giggle (a store near me) and I am definitely leaning towards getting it... You can have the kids facing each other, which I love!! I put DD in the seat (she's almost 11 months) and her feet still wouldn't be in the face of the other baby. I like the idea of having a single stroller frame and being able to convert it back to a single stroller whenever i want to. When DD is too big for a stroller, i don't have to go get another single, and if I ever have DC #2 in the carrier, or am out with just one of them, I'm not lugging around a double stroller for no reason. I really like that you have the option of having the kids face you or face away from you. SOunds like a small issue, but it's a big deal to me - so many kids hate being in their strollers when they are facing away from their parents due to separation anxiety - I've never had DD cry like my friend's babies do, bucause my current stroller allows her to face either way. I also LOVE the sunshade. I have literally never seen one that comes down so far! Right now I have the Peg Venezia (which I'm selling to my friend who's expecting) and I consider that to be a great stroller - this one blows it away, IMHO.
I read a few more reviews on this and from what people say the ride is rougher then other comparable strollers (Bugaboo and such) and the main seat doesn't come fully upright... it still kind of leans back even when on the "upright" setting.
You can only fold it with the main seat facing away which means you'd likely have to take both seats off to fold it since the best way to use it is with both facing you.
I still find it interesting and would LOVE to be able to see it in person because the idea of having a single turn to double and back is great... more companies should think about it. ?
Re: Uppababy Vista
Here are some review videos... I like it but I think it would make more sense for someone who already owned the single version. I'm still tempted
The first video shows it with 2 toddlers in the stroller around 2:00 mins
And I got a kick out of this video review
