3rd Trimester

Anyone going to try to time their next pregnancy?

I know this is a sensitive subject over on GP, but we are all here and all about ready to have our 1, 2, 3, etc babies so it probably won't offend over here.

Do you plan to try and time your next pregnancy?  Ideally I would like to be the most pregnant anytime between the beginning of Dec - beginning of May.  I know it's hard to plan a pregnancy, but it may be worth a try!

While I feel blessed to be pregnant right now, I am not a huge fan of my underwear being soaked with sweat everytime I go outside. Big Smile

Re: Anyone going to try to time their next pregnancy?

  • Every single day for the last month I've told my husband that our next child will be a spring baby if I have anything to say about it. So, yes. If we can.

  • Yeah I know what you mean. I hate being outside because I sweat so bad right now. I would like to time the next one but don't really have my heart set on it.
  • Yeah I do not plan on a Summer pregnancy anytime soon again, AZ heat is hard on me pregnant. I am thinking we plan on having our next one in the late winter or spring time so if I am pregnant during the summer it won't be too bad.
  • I plan to not get pregnant - ever again!  So my plan is to have GOOD bc so that we can be done with our family (LO is our second).  Big Smile
  • Ideally I would like another fall baby. I already will have the summer maternity clothes and my leave after Trent is born will be perfect through the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. That being said, as it took us over a year to concieve I will be happy with a winter babe as well.
  • I timed my current pregnancy, to fit in with my work schedule, and to have pretty much two years between my kids.  I feel pretty lucky that I was able to get pregnant around when I wanted to.
  • I agree that I'm blessed to be pregnant. But, I've thought about trying to plan for a spring or summer baby so I can have the summer off. But, I also don't want to buy an entirely new maternity wardrobe, so maybe the same timeframe (give or take a couple months) would be nice.

  • I would def like to time my next pregnancy..i don't wanna be pregnant during the summer again!!!

  • Kind of.  We're planning a huge family trip to Hawaii in June 2011.  This little one will be about 18 months old.  I'm hoping to have either had my second by then, or be in my 2nd trimester.  But realistically, the only way I'm not going on the trip is if I'm past 32 weeks in my second pregnancy.

  • I wanted to time this pregnancy so that I'd have the baby in May but it didn't happen. We started TTC a month after I got off the pill and that was after our last big all-inclusive trip where I could drink and get sloshed like there was no tomorrow. Once that was out of my system, we TTC in August hoping for a May baby but that didn't work until December so here we are in September. I was hoping to have the summer off so I'd have a longer maternity leave, but I'm OK with it now.  Next time, we'll start TTC earlier so that I have a February-May window....

  • Ideally i would like to get pregnant next time between April and July.  I figure that way it would put me full term before it starts to get really hot.

  • We haven't decided if we'll have another, this is our 2nd.

But I HIGHLY suggest getting pregnant sometime in August.  DS was born in mid May and it was SO much better than this pregnancy.  Winter clothes are much easier to deal with when pregnant, and DS was born before it ever got a chance to get really hot.  Plus I had the whole summer to enjoy after that, NOT pregnant.  LOL.

  • if i do this again i would love for my 3rd tri to be in the winter..lol...

  • I loved being pregnant in the summer and would love to time the next baby similarly. I live in Seattle though so we don't usually deal with crazy hot summers (although this one the temp rose to 105...and most of us don't have a/c..yeah not fun).  I'd rather be pregnant and endure the heat than have a newborn baby trying to endure the heat.

Another plus to being pregnant in the summer is it's easier to dress. You can pull off a lot of summer dresses that aren't even designated as maternity. It's also cheaper to buy maternity clothes and you don't have to deal with things like buying a maternity coat, etc.

So if I have my way, I would do it the same way all over again! We'd like to space our children close and I'm trying to have at least 2 before I turn 30 so we'd start trying for our next baby right around this baby's first birthday or a few months after.

  • Where I live in Florida it's basically sweltering 9 months out of the year. And lucky me, the 3 months that I WASN'T pregnant this year were the cooler/nicer months! It would be nice to have it timed differently next time so that I can be in my 2nd or 3rd tri during those months. I've been miserable this summer. I was in my 2nd tri all summer, but the 3rd tri won't be much better...it's still going to be a bazillion degrees until LO arrives.

  • Planning this one obviously didnt go so well. So I have no reason to think Id be able to plan the next one. Of course Ill start trying at a certain time, but Ill have little hope that I will actually get pg first try. Ill just be thankful that I was able to get pg & am having a healthy baby.
  • I can say I prefer a winter pregnancy to a summer one (having had both). However, it took me 6 months + clomid to get PG with my first and 11 months +clomid to get pregnant with #2, so I'll take what I can get.

  • I am not going to plan on a specific time b/c that just sounds like getting set up for disappointment.  Being pregnant in summer sucks, but so would being pregnant with 2 feet of snow on the ground and having to drive and walk around in it.  It will happen when it's supposed to happen.
  • Probably, but I don't think it would be great to have a little baby in the summer either... so maybe I'll try and get an early spring baby.  In the end, though, I'll be happy with whatever I get!

  • I haven't minded a summer pregnancy one bit. I will try to avoid a birthday right around the holidays though.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • I would love to time my next pregnancy - but it took us 4 yrs and 1 surgery to get pregnant this time. I will be happy whenever it happens again for us. However, I would like to have at least 6-8 months with this baby w/o being pregnant.  I want to be able to enjoy him w/o the hassles of morning sickness etc.
  • We are still relatively young and are planning on spacing at least 2-3 years between our little guy and trying to get pregnant again...that is if we decide to get pregnant again.
