I already have a call in, and have an appointment for tomorrow on the calendar, but I have some funny swelling and was looking for your experiences. Last Thursday after a loooooong day at the office, when I got home and ditched the dress shoes and trouser socks, my feet and calves were really swollen. Like, so swollen that I hit the couch immediately, pretty much stayed there all night, went to bed, and they were still swollen when I made a potty run in the middle of the night. When I woke up, they were good. Pretty much every afternoon/evening my hands, ankles and feet get quite puffy even when I'm just taking it easy at home. The last 3-4 mornings when I've woken up, both my hands have been very swollen, to the point that bending my fingers is actually painful. It goes down some after awhile (like today, I've been up since 8, and they're just moderately puffy now at11:15) but doesn't completely go away. Combined with some darker than usual urine, while still keeping my fluids pretty high, I'm a little worried and am looking to see if anybody's had these experiences?
Re: Obviously, calling my OB, but a question for Pre E moms
Yep, my feet and ankles have turned into balloons the past couple of weeks. We just had a big heat wave and my OB said she would actually be surprised if I didn't have edema
When I put on my compression socks to go walking, my hands will swell up. I brought that up to my OB and she said the fluid has to go some where and the hands are the next place it goes.
As long as you don't have other pre-e symptoms (like pain in your stomach, severe headache, ect) you should be okay
I don't have pre-e although I was tested for it. I know though that swelling is normal during pregnancy, especially since you're on your feet at your office, right? You might just be retaining fluid and it's not pre-e related. Obviously I don't know for sure but I just wanted to reassure you that the swelling might not be pre-e related. Can you or someone you know take your blood pressure to check? As you know, that would be the biggest indicator. Hope that you hear back from your dr soon and all is well!
Other symptoms of pre-e are nausea, vision issues, and headaches.
