Need help with spelling please! :)

DH and I are trying to figure out which spelling we like better:

 Laney

or

Lanie

 

*I like the traditional "ey" ending.  My name, my sister, my mother and my sister-in-law's name all end in "y" and she is going to have my middle name so I think that I like "ey"....please tell me what you think!

I prefer Lanie, BUT... I understand the Y thing.

I was a Y in my name which is making me opt for less traditional spellings like Madelyn, and Kathryn.

I like Laney when paired w/ names like Delaney...however we are naming my DD Alayna and will spell her nn Laynie if we decide to shorten it at all! Dunno if that helps! I happen to like y's!

I line Laney. Lanie looks like it could be pronounced lan-EE.

I think it's uncommon enough of a name that  you won't offend spelling purists (like myself) either way you go. Both look "right".

My friend spells it Lanie. She's named after her mom who is Elaine.

I prefer Lanie over Laney.
