I posted this on Showers too, but thought you all might respond quicker.
Mother & Sis are throwing me a shower-mom is not doing anything (long story) and sis needs some help with games. One friend suggested the clothes pin game. Ideas of any other ones that are fun-where people can move about and not be confined to sitting down and writing crosswords etc. are welcome!
TIA
Re: Game ideas plz.
My sister did some AMAZING games at her shower. The first was a candy bar game. She used a posterboard and attached the wrappers off of many candy bars (Mars, Snickers, etc.). Then she handed out papers with quirky questions and everyone had to figure out which candy bar name was the answer. I'm sure you can find it online if you google it.
So a second game, using the candy bars from the wrappers, would be the diaper game. Melt candy bars and put them in diapers. Number each diaper. People have to, by sight only, figure out which candy bar is melted in the diaper. (Don't put the actual diaper in the microwave. Melt each bar in a microwave safe dish and then carefully place in diaper).
My mom did the following games at my baby shower and everyone had a blast with them!
1. Dirty Diaper game:

2. Egg Baby game - She hard boiled one egg for every person at the shower and put "It's a Boy!" stickers on them. Everyone had to take care of their baby during the shower. If they got up to go to the bathroom or get food, they had to ask someone to babysit their "baby". If they left their "baby" unattended, someone else could kidnap it. The person with the most "babies" at the end of the shower won.
3. My Water Broke! game - She found these little plastic babies that she froze in ice cubes. Each person got an ice cube and could do whatever it took to get their baby out of the ice cube. The person who did it first won.
I always like the "how big is she" game where everyone takes crepe paper and rips off the size they think you are around your belly. It is really funny
Also, NBR, but if you get two bowls, two spoons and two blindfolds, get two people to face each other each with a bowl, spoon, blindfold and a whole bunch of cotton balls in front of them. Then they have 30 seconds to get the most cotton into their bowl using only the spoon. It is SO FUNNY to watch/do.
This game is disgusting. I've been to more than one shower where people were gagging at the sight of this. One of which included the mother-to-be. NOT COOL.
Agreed. What is wrong with good conversation and cupcakes??
I'm sure the original poster can decide if it is a game she is interested in doing herself without making a commenter feel completely stupid for suggesting it.
Though I do have to admit I'm not personally a "game" person so I cringe when people have games at showers. Merely suggesting games my sister has done for others in the past.
I appreciate all the suggestions!
1. everyone LOVED this game: baby gift bingo. pass out blank bingo cards and have guests fill in items that they think the guest of honor will receive. as the GOH opens gift, the guests are anxiously awaiting their "item" to be called for BINGO. it kept the gift-opening part from being soooo boring. the catch is, if there's a lot of guests/gifts, you need to make a larger bingo card so someone doesn't win right away. it was?definitely?a hit.?
2. fill a jar with candy and have each guest guess the amount. the one closest wins.

There was one that I thought was pretty funny at a co-ed shower..It was a diaper changing relay race using dolls for each team..
alternative dirty diaper "game":

instead of the nursery rhyme paper game, play some soundclips from popular lullabyes and get them to write down the titles
"Perfect Timing" from Parents-- this one is a luck game really, as you open gifts you set a timer on a short time and when the ding sounds, whosever gift you are opening gets a small prize...one of those games that ppl who don't like games won't mind so much because it really doesn't interfere w/ conversations and party progression
...okay, thats all I've got so far
