Hospitals???

I just moved to the Tucson area in Feb. and have heard a mix of "go to TMC" and a mix of "go to St. Joe's" for delivery. I was wondering if anyone on here could help with some insight about those 2 hospitals.

Re: Hospitals???

  • Honestly my dear, if those are the hospitals on your side of town I would prob do TMC. If you are pretty open on locations I would go to Northwest Medical Center. They have an amazing Womens Center! I have had SEVERAL friends that have given birth there and they love it, the nurse staff is amazing. That is where I'm going to go!

  • We already live south of those and it takes about 30 minutes to get there so I dont want to have to drive that much further. But Thank You! I've been leaning towards TMC for a couple different reasons I was just trying to get some opinions!

  • I live minutes away from NW Hospital but will deliver at TMC. I know TMC has a good NICU- hopefully we wont need it. I trust them and know that they have advanced equipment for babies if they should need it. I would say to tour the hospitals. Also- welcome to Tucson!
  • I can give a St. Joe's perspective!

I delivered at St. Joes.  I also was there when both my nieces were born at St. Joes.  As far as giving birth there, I have only good things to say.  My nurses were awesome,  They took great care of me, baby and my husband.

My oldest niece had to spend time in their NICU - they were wonderful to all of us during that time.

The down side - the couch for the husband is very uncomfortable to sleep on - but at least there is a couch!

The one thing I was not all that impressed with were the birthing classes.  I don't really feel like I learned anything new that I didn't already read about.

  • I loved St. Joes and I am delivering there again.  I have been admitted to the hospital a couple times and everyone is so nice.  The new L&D building was built about a year ago.  Everything is nice and new.
