My MW said that prior to the test I should restrict my carb intake and eat more proteins. Ok, that isn't so bad if I'd made the appointment for the morning, but me being brainless made the appointment for 4!!!
Now all I want to eat are Cheez-its and Bagels! HELP?!
Re: Late afternoon GD test was a bad idea!
They say you should eat what you normally eat but chances are you will end up needing to go for the three hour if you do that because they have changed the numbers so it is harder to pass the one hours so they don't miss ppl. I had mine in the morning and I only eat 20 grams of crabs.
I don't know what your day looks like but if you are able to eat crabs early and go for a walk after which you eat less crabs you should be ok.
The Bump ate my relpy... so I'm trying it again.
I've noticed, by reading tons of threads, that a lot of doctors give different instructions. I was fully expecting to be told not to change my diet just for the day. Now, I'm really wishing that was the case.
You'd think that it would be much more scientific because it's such an important test (at least it is, in my book.) For example, everyone in the country should take it at 8am after having eaten {insert food here} so that the results are the most accurate!
May I borrow some of your crazy willpower for the day?
purty pweeeese?
The one hour is just a benchmark test to see if the 3 hour is necessary, hence the difference in recommendations. Some doctors pass anything under 140, others 130. My Dr recommends eating normally but uses the lower # so the way I see it, it averages out.
I had scrambled eggs, a piece of sausage and whole grain toast. I would say if you eat carbs beforehand, just make them whole grain and fiber-filled and pair them with a protein.
I had a bagel with cream cheese and a cup of coffee with sugar in it about 2 hours before my test and I passed. Good luck!
