Anyone have a kids' digital camera?

Rants or raves?

Thanks.

Re: Anyone have a kids' digital camera?

  • Jackson has one - it's Fisher Price, I think?

He loves it; I think the picture quality is pretty craptacular.  Also, it only holds like 60 pictures w/out a memory card which is annoying if your kid just takes 60 pictures in a row in less than 3 minutes and then says, "FIX IT ITS BROKE WAHHHHHHHHHHHH."

We put a memory card in it so I wouldn't either break the camera or murder my son.

  • We have the kid tough blue one. It's bulky and has terrible quality pictures. (it may be the same as eclaires). I do not recommend it.

  • we have the vtech.  i guess it's good.  it's cute and durable.  my niece who is not even 2 yet can use it.   As for picture quality, we haven't even downloaded any yet.  My mom did some research and this was the best.

  • I should add that I wouldn't spend money on the one we have - it was a gift for Jackson from my MIL so while I think it's a piece of junk, it does provide entertainment to him.  And my husband since Jackson likes to take terrible pictures of me and then my husband goes through them making fun of me.

  • DD has the pink kid tough one from fisher price (I think?).  Like the others have said the picture quality isn't that great but DD could really care less about that.  It also holds a ton of pictures so we don't have to worry about deleting pics off or uploading them to our computers constantly.  The one issue that we have with it is that it sucks the life out of batteries so quickly.  We are constantly having to change the batteries in it to the point that DD doesn't play with it because it is always low on battery life or we don't have any replacement batteries.

  • We have the newest VTech one, which is, allegedly, supposed to be better, and it's a POS.  I'd give him an older one of our decent cameras and get a new one before I'd re-buy that for him.

It was still abotu $70.  It's very sturdy, though.

I often find myself saying things like "IF YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF MOMMY IN THE SHOWER, THEN I AM GOING TO TAKE THE CAMERA AWAY."

  • DS (he's 3) has the Vtech one, I think it was $70, and he really likes it. The picture quality is not very good, but he has fun with it. He likes taking photos, and playing some of the games on it - memory, matching type games.?

My 7 year old nephew also really liked it - he figured out the movie feature on it and had fun playing with it for a couple hours while he was at our house.?

  • We had the VTech camera from Target, until today, when I took it back because it's broke.  It was $60 and had pretty much the best reviews but still not very good ones.  Sure enough, 3 weeks after we bought it, it broke and for no apparent reason either.  The picture quality was crap too.  I don't even know if there is a suitable replacement out there.  I'm trying to think of something besides a camera to suggest.  Dd did love that thing though.

  • Also have the FP one.... picture quality sucks, the batteries die quickly and so we find ourselves hiding it so we don't have to replace the batteries so often.

My son preferred my old digital camera....some canon powershot instead.  Wonder if you could find one on ebay for the same price as the "kiddie" ones because they aren't worth it.

About a year ago Amelia stood outside the shower with her FP Kidstough camera and said to DH "Daddy say cheese" as she was snapping away. Thank goodness the shower door was frosted! lol
