Dizzy after D&C?

Hi ladies,

I am going to call the doc tomorrow but did any of you experience a lot of dizziness after your d&c?  I had it done on Thursday and starting today (and I didn't take any pain pills) I have been having these spells.  I feel like like the world is spinning in front of me and like I will pass out.

Has anyone experienced this? I have been eating so I know it isn't low blood sugar.  I am not bleeding alot either.  Any thoughts?

  • Definatly call your doctor monday morning.  In the mean time take it easy and keep off your feet as much as you can.  Hope you feel better soon.

  • I was having this problem after my D&E, it was a couple of different reasons, when I had my D&E, I had blood moving back into my uterus, which made me have to go in for an emergency D&C, they removed 2 litres of blood from my uterus and I needed a transfusion.  So my blood count, iron count and BP were low.  But, I also had tissue and a pool of blood left in my uterus that was causing me to feel shaky, dizzy and faint.  They put me on misoprosol and antibiotics and it took care of the tissue and pool of blood.  I would definitely call if you are still feeling that way tomorrow, just to be sure that there isn't a problem.  Post an update if you can.

  • Thanks ladies, I hope it isn't anything serious.  I will post an update tomorrow.
  • I've had some dizzy spells since my delivery 6 weeks ago.  I've never felt like I could pass out from them though.  I talked to my ob on tues about it and she said that it could be that my thyroid is out-of-whack after everything.  I'm still waiting on bloodwork though so I don't know for sure why yet.  I hope it's something easily taken care of and that you stop feeling dizzy.  Take care and let us know what your doc says.
  • Yes! I'm not sure it was due to the D&C but I ended up being diagnosed with vertigo a week later. My Dr. put me on anti-dizzy meds and it cleared up within a week or 2. Good luck and I'm sorry for your loss.
