I am scheduled for my one hour tomorrow at 10. Of course, I have misplaced my instructions for my visit and the office is closed over the weekend. Am I allowed to eat/drink prior to the blood draw? Thanks ladies!!!
1. Please arrive at our office 15 minutes prior to you scheduled appointment. Your blood will be drawn exactly one hour after you drink the glucola.
2. Keep Glucola refrigerated.
3. Drink the entire bottle at one hour before your appointment time.
4. Drink chilled or over ice.
5. Drink rapidly. Do no sip.
6. Do no exert yourself physically after drinking the glucola.
7. You may not eat anything after midnight the day before drinking the glucola. This means that you should schedule your test to be done in the morning. Do no drink anything but water.
8. Please notify us when you arrive at the office the exact time that you drank the glucola so that we can make sure your blood will be drawn exactly one hour later.
My instructions were pretty much the same, except I wasn't told not to eat (good thing, since my appointment wasn't until 4 pm). I just couldn't eat anything after I drank the glucola stuff.

My instructions were exactly the same as Kari's. And I had my test at 10:30 am and it wasn't too hard to fast.
Though I have a tip... bring a granola bar or something in your handbag to eat AFTER the test. I couldn't have made it much longer.

Thanks for the tip Robyn! I know how ravenous I am when I wake up, so I will be a cranky girl for sure!
Hope you are holding up well and feeling good! Your little boy will be here any day now!!!
Oh... thanks for asking this question!
I have to go to a Lab place to do mine.. sometime this week. But I suppose I should call them and make sure they have the nasty stuff in stock, etc.
My doc just said not to eat anything super-sugary or carby that morning. Now I think I'd better get clarification from the lab itself.
Good luck tomorrow!
Nothing to eat/drink after drinking until blood draw.
Mine also said that I could eat, but should avoid carbs and sugars (including fruits)...
nothing to eat or drink (including water) between drinking the stuff and having blood drawn.
I am the 99%.
