Ladies, ladies, ladies... here's my dilemna:
I absolutely can not decide between a travel system, or just a convertible car seat and stroller!!
I think the travel system would be more affordable right now, but then I would still have to buy a new car seat down the road. However, if you don't have a travel system, how do you get LO in and out of the car without waking her? I would not consider a snap and go car seat insert, because then I would just get a travel system... know what I mean?
So anyways, what are your thoughts and opinions on this matter? Which method are you going with and why?
TIA!! Have a beautiful Sunday ![]()
Re: Travel System vs. Convertible Seat & Stroller
We got the Graco Snugride Travel system & I am super excited about it.
I see my SIL with her two kids & watch how easy she can take the baby in & out of the car w/o waking her. Also being able to snap the carseat into the stroller or a "snap & go" stroller base - again you are not waking/disturbing the baby & you don't have to unbuckle out of the carseat EVERY time you have to get out of the car. Totally my personal opinion but just do some research & see what works for you! Good luck!
I was a nanny for a long time and I hated it when the parents didn't have a snap and go system or a travel system... the baby ws always waking up, especially when they get to about 8-10 months when they sleep a little lighter... If you are looking to save some $$ I would get the snap in stroller over the travel system... but I wouldn't recommend going without a snap-in car seat... Also, another bonus of waiting, is you can keep your eye open for clearance car seats a Target, or BRU...
It can be frustrating moving them from the car to the stroller to the car and to the house again without waking them up...some babies are super sound sleepers, others are very light... You will have a much happier baby, especially if they are a light sleeper!
HTH!
Ditto everyone you're going to want to have some sort of infant carrier that you can snap into something. To me it is worth the extra money for the convenience especially since you're due around the same time as me I believe. Are you really going to want to pulling your LO out of a convertable car seat and into a stroller when it is cold outside?
We are going with a Graco Snugride and a Graco Mosaic stroller which is pretty small (we did not want a large travel system) but still lets the stroller snap in.
If you're against getting a big stroller find a stroller you like that you can get a carseat adapter for. Good Luck! If you have any questions feel free to page me. I feel like I debated back and forth on strollers forever.
Thanks so much ladies!!! It seems like you have helped solidify my decision... Graco Travel System it is!!
Have a great day!!!
I know exactly what you mean. DH and I have thought about doing this:
Graco Snap N Go stroller frame
Graco Snugride infant car seat
Then when LO outgrows the car seat, then we'll upgrade to the right car seat and get a light weight stroller, not those bulky ones. Haven't looked at those since we're not going down that path until way later.
Edit: DH originally wanted convertible seat however I convinced DH it wasn't the way to go. I didn't want to wake up the baby every single time to put her in/out of the car into the stroller. I told DH if we did that path, he's the one who will be pulling her out. If she's asleep, let her be!
This.
We wanted the convenience of a TS without the bulk, weight, and awkwardness of a traditional one. And we knew that we definitely didn't want to start with a convertible seat--it's arguable that they're not as safe for newborns and small infants, despite their weight range. So we opted for a single stroller with a carseat attachment and an infant carseat.
We chose the Baby Jogger City Mini. It's much lighter than a TS, easier to fold, and fits nicely into my car's tiny trunk. You can choose from a variety of carseats that are compatible, including the Graco Snugride, which is what we chose.
