He is in his little tanning bed except for feedings and we are having a hard time soothing him while he is laying in it.
I have is swing on making the heartbeat sounds and we have a vibrating pad underneath the bed. I feel so terrible when he is crying and I can't pick him up. I am praying that his bilirubin?levels will go down tomorrow.?
Re: Any tips or advice on how to soothe my baby with jaundice?
I didn't have to deal with this. I pray that it gets better for you.
Does LO have to stay flat while he is in it? Can you put him in his bouncy/vibrating seat while he is in it?
My nephew was in the Biliblanket and I wish he could use it. He is in a flat bed with lights underneath. ?
Yes, he has to stay flat. It is a big bed so I can't even sit it in my lap to bounce him.?
It's not a blanket...it's a bed and he just lays on top of it with a blanket. It looks just like a tanning bed with only the bottom.?
My son has jaundice too, but since my insurance doesn't cover any at home treatment, I haven't had to do any of that. What are your baby's levels at?
He was at 14.1 when we left the hospital yesterday and today he was a 16.7.?
Have you tried running the vacuum cleaner? It works for my nieces.
Hang in there!
I'm sorry, I had to deal with this for 5 days and it does suck. I literally would stand at this bed and put my face next to his and make a shhhhhhh noise for hours when I couldn't soothe him. Sometimes I would have to take him out to calm him then try to put him back. I hope your levels go down and you can get rid of the bed.
I also used a paci which helped and I rolled blankies and put them in the little "bag" to make him feel like he was held.
The soothie pacifier worked for our DD. It did not interfer with BF. She slept underneath the warm lights most of the time.
Also, the levels of jaundice peak at 3 or 4 days old. It should go down next test. Supplementing with formula after BF or with pumped milk couldn't hurt. You need to get baby to poop to flush the Bilirubin out of their system.
