Straw cups and planes do not mix

Just a friendly PSA for anyone who may be flying- if you bring a straw cup full of water on a plane, do not flip it open mid-flight without screwing the top off first!

My mom wasn't paying attention and flipped it open to give it to DD, and water came shooting out of there in a jet.  It was actually pretty funny, because my mom shot the water straight into her face and all over me and DD.  Thank goodness we took up a whole row and didn't get water all over a stranger!

  • LOL! Thanks for the warning. Sounds like we have the same sippy cup, which I was planning to take on the plane for DS in a couple of weeks.

  • Is it the Munchkin Straw cup?  Do either of you have trouble with milk coming up out of the straw at home?  Ours are doing it more than 50% of the time and I have no idea why.  Really gross to have milk on the floor all the time.

Oh and that story is priceless...I wish you would have had a video camera to catch the look on her face :-)

  • I'm glad you posted, we are flying next Saturday, I'll be sure to bring the other sippy.
  • I have that same problem and realized I have to re-adjust the entire straw mechanism or else the child will be sucking till she's red! Or, the straw or cup, whichever just leaks! I wonder if there really is a spill-proof sippy out there?
