Cloth Diapers

Did anyone go this route? I was talking to a woman at our local baby boutique and she was explaining how to use them. I wonder if its really as simple in reality as she made it sound. And if its even feasible with twins. I'd love to hear from those that tried them. Did you continue? Did they work well? Which would you recommend?

Re: Cloth Diapers

  • We are currently cloth diapering our girls full time. During the day we just use the old fashioned pre-folds with snappis(instead of pins) and dappis(they are the plasic covers). At night we use Bum Genius 3.0 and these are just like disposables. We have 50 prefolds and 12 BG and we also have 45 reusable wipes. We did use disposables for the first 3 weeks because they were so small that I was afraid of blowouts. Plus you change them every 2 hours or so. My dh says every time he pulls out a cd he looks at is as money back in our pocket. I think I invested a total of about $300.00 and have already made it back. Also the BG are one size fits all so you can adjust them as they get older. I would recommend it! But... I also am a SAHM so that does help.

  • I haven't bought any yet, but plan on using cloth diapers. Someone on the bump posted this link a couple days ago. Very helpful.

  • We cloth diapered our first daughter. Since we already made the investment in the diapers we fully intend to use them on the boys. It really wasn't that much work once we got the swing of it. I can't imagine what disposable diapers for twins would cost.

Most of my current stash is the more expensive pocket diapers which I love. We've never had a blow out and my daughter can really poop. We've supplemented our current stash with some fitteds. We didn't try prefolds because originally I wasn't sure what my childcare situation would be and it seemed easier to get the childcare place to use the pockets. No one has turned me down yet beucase they work like regular diapers.

The Eco-Friendly board and diaperswappers.com has a wealth of CD information on there. The girls LOVE to talk about their diapers. THey will answer any questions you have.
