..wearing maternity clothes? And what # baby is this for you?
I'm nowhere near maternity clothes yet, but for some reason my underwear is bugging me - I need big granny panties or my stomach feels weird. I have no idea why. This is baby #2.
Last time, I started wearing maternity around month #7 or 8 - before that, I could get into my regular (bigger/looser) stuff.
Re: Poll: when did you start..
I started wearing larger jeans and my cousin's maternity jeans (small sizes) at around 12 weeks or so. I didn't have morning sickness and gained about 7 lbs my first trimester. I wasn't fully into maternity clothes until about 20 weeks.
And while I'd been wearing maternity jeans and some shirts by then, most people didn't realize I was pregnant until around 24 weeks. I guess that was my 6th month?
Edit: This is baby #1.

Only maternity clothes fit me now, except I can wear my shorts and pants with a belly band.
3rd pregnancy, so I guess it was to be expected, not to mention the fact I gained 15 lbs in the first 3 months because eating was the only thing that stopped the M/S. Okay, also because I had little self control and no carbohydrate was safe in my presence.
First pregnancy I didnt wear maternity clothes until well into the 6th month.
I had baby #1 last Sunday.
I started wearing marternity jeans at abasout month 5. My hips just couldnt fit. I bought Old Navy jeans...they do the job, but be careful when you pull the elastic part as it will rip
I bought a lot of loose tops at Forever 21 and primarily had no maternity tops at all. That way I stayed somewhat in fashionable and hip. Also, tube tops are a very good purchase as your belly grows, so stock up now before the stores stop selling them when the summer is over.
I still don't have any maternity clothing.
I did buy a couple pairs of capris at wal-mart for $7-9 each that are a size up from my regular clothing.
My advice: don't go with granny panties...go with low rise. You may not even need a size larger yet, but if you are bloating they may be more comfy. Boy shorts are comfy, too.
I started buying around 18 weeks, and used a Bella Band from about 16-28 weeks. I really didn't need full-on maternity until 24-28 weeks. Even now, I have a few things that are just cut long or empire waist that I can pretty much wear up until delivery.
It's my first baby, but I was overweight to start with. I really didn't show at all until after 18 weeks or so.
I second this. Victoria's Secret has some cute ones (ultra low-rise and boy shorts) in the 5 for $25 section and I plan to wear them the rest of the time. It's my first pregnancy and I needed to use a belly band or rubber band by 8 weeks. I had not gained weight by the 16 week appointment (Oh this will change at my weigh-in next week!), but my pants were all too tight. Then by 10-12 weeks I switched to maternity jeans and pants. With shirts it depends on the style.
My Blog

6 months + before I wore maternity pants and blouses. Loose fitting blouses worked just fine for quite a while. All for baby #1.
This time, I tried maternity pants on again, but they are WAY too loose to stay up. So, that is probably a good thing. I weigh within 5 pounds of what I weighed when PG with #1 [6 feet tall and not a tiny person], so all is well. Although, I will say that I was at pre-PG weight on the 6 week post-partum visit, but the shape change was dramatic! A "belly and thicker waist" for starters...
I'm already a plus sized person, but I haven't really gained any weight until just a pound or two back and forth. That's starting to change a little now, since I think I'm up about five or so.
But I went out and bought some Women's sized capris and shirts at Kohls right around 4-5 months and that's working out well. Need to find some dress pants, tho.
And as for low rise panties vs. granny panties... GO GRANNY! I normally wore the VS high leg briefs and they're like tourniquets now. So I just broke down and bought some Fruit of the Loom briefs and high leg briefs in the biggest size I could get my hands on! They totally float on me, but I don't care! SO COMFY!
Oh, I understand. It's not about the size, it's about needing my stomach covered in something nice and soft.. There's no change/gain form before, but I just feel like I need a nice big pair of granny panties to feel comfy these days
My only Maternity clothes are 2 pair of Capri's and a pair of jeans (couldn't resist getting Maternity 7's!) I started wearing them around 5-6 months.
I have lived in sundresses from Forever 21, Macys - anywhere that works! They have been so comfortable and cool.
