I started reading this blog about a couple adopting a child. ?Until I logged on tonight and saw they'd chosen the name Nevaeh, because, you know, it's heaven spelled backwards.
So done reading that blog. ?::shudder::?

I think this name is beautiful! We did not pick it for our first name but it is our babies middle name. She is due in September and her name will be Briellah Neveah (Ne VAY). We love it!

Seriously? ?Good luck to your daughter. ?She's going to be spelling those names (and correcting misspellings) 85 times a day. ?

i really dont think it is that bad of a name. I think everyone hates it more so bc it is heaven spelled backwards. i read it as na-vay, na-vay-a (sounds like day) or na-vye-a (like mya) and too me that isnt as bad as a lot of other names i have seen.
personally if i were to actually use that name I would just spell it has it sounds (Navaya) but as is it really isnt the worst.
i hope the spelling of names/words backwards does not become the new trend. so dumb.
I hope it doesnt either. I do have a friend who made his nickname his first name spelled backwards....Semaj...low and behold it is on the baby namer list...im hoping maybe it was already a name. Too bad bc i actually like that name too..lol

Not only that, but the incorrect spelling of words backwards. "Heaven" backwards is Nevaeh, not Neveah. Learn to spell people, then learn to spell backwards. Nevaeh looks ugly and isn't easy to pronounce because it's - surprise! - not a word.
I hate this name, too and totally associate it with teen moms who are trying to be cool. Then, my rude, hormonal pregnant brain takes it one step further (cause now it's on the top 100 names list for 2008) and wonders: what if my 4 year old son brings home a girlfriend some day named Nevaeh. I'll probably look at her and think "oh, dear, your parents were one of those people who thought that name was a good idea. how sad." How judgmental is that? I hope I'm not that mom....
If you look on the social security website, it breaks down the top names for each state. It's breaking the top 100 in some states. It's number 24 in Alaska.
I agree that it's awful, and I just don't get it. Heaven backwards? Last I checked, the reverse of Heaven is not a concept that I'd want to associate with my child :-)
Cautiously expecting our second little petri dish baby - stick, Baby, stick!
Re: omg. Nevaeh. worst name ever.
I try to have an open mind, but this name rubs me the wrong way. I honestly hate it.
Ugh, I have NEVER understood the draw to this name.
On the other hand, wouldn't it be cool if I had a bunch of kids with names like...
Htrae
Looc (short for Oilooc)
Ecarg
Epoh...
Nevaeh would fit right in!

I noticed this trend too. Must be the new 'cool' thing. My 33 year old a$$ is so out of touch
