1st Trimester

Sleeping Position

I've been having problems sleeping this week. I'm not sure if it's cause I'm growing or not.. I'm normally a back and side sleeper, although I normally spend more time sleeping on my back. I know that soon I will have to focus on training myself to sleep on my side - anyone know at what point I need to make the switch? I'm assuming mid 2nd trimester? Any tips for a back sleeper on making the transition a bit easier??

Re: Sleeping Position

  • A body pillow or lots of support pillows to help you try to stay on your left side.

  • I am having this same problem! I sleep on my stomach so I am not sure if I am waking up because the pressure is bothering me or I am just not sleeping well. I am interested to see the answer on this!
  • 20-22 wks is when they advise to sleep on left side.  you still have time.
  • Now why the left side over the right?

the left is just preferred but either on is fine i think it has to do w/circulation and the position of the baby. i am a back sleeper and had such a hard time falling asleep on my sides but i started around 12-14 weeks so i had time to adjust. i also used lots of pillows- one in front, one under my legs, and one behind me!
