Did anyone cut back to part time at work?

Did you feel guilty about it? I absolutely want to stay home with DD part of the time. In fact, I would be a SAHM if 1)we could afford it and 2) I didn't love my job. I am bringing DD to work with me right now, and I am working full time at least until she starts daycare in September. My boss is ok with me cutting back whenever I want, and we can afford it, but I'm having a hard time actually doing it. DD is very fussy today, and I should probably go home, but I feel guilty for some reason. I am sure this will pass when I'm at home enjoying time with DD, right?

  • Yes! I work Part time and I love it. You have the best of both worlds. There is no reason to feel guilty! Do what is best for you and your family!

  • I plan to cut back to part time. Technically I work 2 jobs, but they're in the same office so I'll be quitting one.  The only thing that bugs me is that I have to choose.  Both places are smaller offices and we've all grown to be friends. I know that either place will understand, but it still weighs on my mind.

  • Me! I just started regular part time hrs this week. I'm working Tues/Thurs. I am very fortunate that my job allowed me to go part-time, if the economy wasn't the way it is I wouldn't have been able to. I like that I can have adult interaction but also get to spend time with DS!
  • I was happy to switch to PT, 3 days a week, 10 hour days and I love it. Don't feel guilty at all!  I felt a little bad asking but once she approved it I was so happy to share the news with everyone!

  • I worked 29 hours a week until I started my maternity leave.  I intend to go back to work at 17 hours a week.  I am really excited about having the reduced schedule.  I really want to be around my baby as much as I can and my supervisor is supportive of that.
