Aqua is a neutral color!

Hormone flair up happened last night... I brought home some Dash & Albert rug samples (I'm an interior designer) to see which one I liked with our Migi Pinwheel bedding and aqua walls... to which my husband said, "Well you have to use the one with pink, we need SOMETHING girly in here." You know when you feel like a cartoon and the bright red is just moving up your head and steam comes out the top?  It's amazing what can set me off "in this condition." lol

Re: Aqua is a neutral color!

  • Funny...I think aqua is neutral as well but DH says it's girly and doesn't want to use it if we have a boy. Men...what do they know?

I'm with you... we're probably doing blue & green regardless of whether it's a girl or boy! That bedding set is really cute.
  • ugh, I don't know why pink has to be the only girlie color.
  • I had this fight over and over and over with my hubby -- OY.  I even tried to show him that he has aqua clothes AND i have aqua clothes hanging in the closet.  That still didn't do the trick so I had to go another route.
  • Ok, Not related to your post..but where did you get your sweater? I love it!

  • I TOTALLY agree with you!  Aqua is soooo neutral!  In many cases I believe that it even has a more girly feel to it...

  • I love Aqua!!  I think it is a cute color for either boy or girl.

Although, the glorious words of wisdom from my 3-year-old niece made me wonder about aqua (when I wasn't sure what I was having and she was convinced it was a girl)  "Aunt Kristi, you CAN"T use that color for baby mantha... its a boy color..."   I still loved it though!

lol everything really IS annoying you today huh?

  • I totally agree!  I am honestly getting sick of this whole blue is for boys, pink is for girls attitude.  Go with the colors you like.

Plus, I hate how everything now comes in gender specific/neutral colors.  Does it really matter if the car seat matches the baby's gender?

Agreed.  I am not a pink person, but most baby clothes for girls are pink.  I did manage to find DD bedding that was purple and green with yellow and pink accents.  I also did my best to find clothes that were other colors, but it can be really hard!

Yes! How will the baby know it's a girl if it has a blue carseat? Won't she grow up to be a lesbian if she isn't wearing a pink dress at all times?

J/k of course... I really hate how all baby stuff is gendered now. I think the stores are just trying to exploit people's excitement over finding out the baby's sex, now that most people do that.

  • aqua's totally neutral! We're doing an aqua/pale green colored nursery and we're not finding out the sex.
  • I couldn't agree with you more!  I bought gender neutral bedding before we knew the sex.  The bedding is aqua and green and I love it.  But my mom had a heart attack when she saw it - "What if it's a girl?  Where is the pink?"

    UGH!!!!

Turns out, LO is a boy.  And my mom is so happy that he'll get to be in the "boy nursery."

    Silly people!!!!!

  • We actually registered for some blue baby clothes with hedgehogs, etc. My DH is adamantly telling people no pink. Matter of fact any pink received will be dyed purple. Ever had a color that just makes you want to spew? Mine is pink, I've hated it since as long as I could remember. I think MY DD will be wearing more primary colors and to hell with anyone who doesn't think she looks like a girl.
  • Our nursery for our daughter was aqua and green. I am also making an Aqua blanket for a friend who doesn't know the sex and totally thought it was gender neutral.
  • Aqua is a very neutral color.  My mom has her heart set on decorating in purple, so I'll let her, but the walls are going to be aqua to tone down all of the purple.

  • We're team green and using the Migi Pinwheel bedding (with aqua walls). I definitely think it's gender neutral!

  • also using migi pinwheel bedding for a girl, but i bought it before we found out the sex. i was thinking about doing tan walls for a boy, but also considered aqua. now that we know it's a girl, we are definately going with aqua- and no pink anywhere ;)
