Multiples

Please excuse my ignorance, but...

whats a Peri?  a dietician?  I've seen many of you ladies reference your ER, OB and Peri.  Assuming I'll likely need one too?  So much info to absorb....TIA

Re: Please excuse my ignorance, but...

  • A peri is a perinatologist, also known as MFM or maternal-fetal medicine specialist. They are high risk OBs. If you're carrying multiples, you really want a peri, because multiples are prone to a whole world of complications that just cannot happen during singleton pregnancies.

I never saw a dietician when I was pregnant, but it isn't a bad idea to see one.

  • Peri is a high risk doctor and a dietician will help you get the calories/nutiriton you need with multiples.

I just saw my OB but met with a dietitican at the office just bc they offered one otherwise I probably won't have.

This.  I see an OB and a peri.  I do not see a dietician but I am not really gaining weight so maybe I should start seeing one.
