afford all these procedures? From b/w to IUI to IVF? What's your secret?
*Disclaimer* Please understand I am not trying to be nosey here. DH and I only just got started on this journey and we are a little overwhelmed with the costs of everything.
DH & I have great jobs in an industry that has not really been touch by the economy (oil & gas). We also have always been big time savers. Even though we are 100% OOP, we have been able to pay cash for everything without really altering our budget. We also have no debt other than our house - which I look at as positive debt.

That's awesome! DH and I hardly have any debt; other than our house we have one car payment. We have a lot of savings as well, so I know we'll get through. I guess I just wondered what ppl did who didn't have the money and had to pay everything OOP.
Well, I'm thinking about robbing a bank or possibly printing my own money
So far, our insurance coverage has been good but I'm not even at the IUI/IVF stage yet and I'm scared to know what our coverage is or isn't. All we have had done is a ton of testing and lots of meds.
TTC since April 2008
Me: PCOS/Amenorrhea DH: Azoospermia due to Y Chromosome Micro Deletion
IVF w/ ICSI on hold until further notice
I'm a combination of the first two posters. We're out of pocket and we've been able to pay cash for everything but in order to continue to live like we want, you HAVE to make adjustments and give up on some other luxury things that you may be used to (I think no matter how much $ you have, you have to be wise and make some adjustments). I must be honest, every cycle I shell out $ for meds or a surgery and I'm constantly thinking I could have totally bought new furniture, a car, or even just plain INVESTED or saved that money---but it all goes to IF. It.sucks. I pray that one day IF is covered everywhere for all people.
I'm really hoping we don't have to go much further because if that happens we won't be able to afford the procedures anymore. At least not at this point. Maybe in about 2 or 3 years when our debt is completely gone other than a house payment.

We wait... and wait... and wait... saving all the while. We've already cut out a lot of things from our budget. We just don't have jobs that pay that well, so we're saving and hoping to start treatments soon.

We got a pretty good income tax return we are using now, but its almost gone so the next step is an equity line on our house. Luckily we live in an area where housing prices have not really been effected so we have some equity to draw on.

In all honesty, I don't know...luckily, this is the first year that DH and I have made "professional" wages. (He has a career job for the first time and so do I). So, not having lived with "all this money" in the past is really helping.
we have cut back on eating out, buying things for the house..we bascially do nothing right now. I do have great insurance but pay OOP for my insurance $320 a month..at one time we were paying for H's insurance as well $420 month. I dont know how we do it. We dont have a lot of dept besides our house and two car payments...we have two cc left to pay off so those have taken a back seat since this journey began...
basically we stuggle...i look at it this way though at some point we will either get pg...or think of other options. either way its temp.
I am in between houses and DH and I moved in with my parents. We are planning to stay for a few extra months to help pay for IVF #1. I have had some fantastic women donate meds from the OOP check in, and I've given up a lot of extra stuff. It really sucks having to pay for something it seems like everyone around me gets for free. But we make it work. If we have to do IVF #2 it will go on the credit card but hopefully at zero percent.
