make the pack n' play more comfy for sleeping?

we just got a pack n' play from a neighbor and plan to use it for the first time overnight on our trip this weekend.  but the middle foot seems to really stick up, like a big bump right in the middle of the mattress/pad thingy.  it's hard to even lay her down in it without her laying over that somehow... she's only taken short naps in it so far so i dont know if this will bother her for overnight sleep.  she's already not a good night sleeper so i'm nervous...

is this normal, or do we need to look into buying a new one?

and does anyone use those quilted/padded pack n play sheets?  i know too much padding is bad for a baby but she's old enough now and can roll and stuff, i feel like she would be safe enough with jsut a little extra softness.  any thoughts?

thanks!

  • i don't think it's normal, but if it's free, i might try to make it work.  you could lay down a soft, fluffy blanket underneath the PNP sheet and try that.

  • Not sure. DD sleeps in one fine all night when we are away. I'm not sure if there is a bump though. Never noticed one. maybe go to the store & check out new ones. If they seem like they'd be more comfortable go for that.

  • ours sticks up a little too. I have the quilted sheet and it works okay.

  • awesome, thanks ladies!  we thought of layering blanket or towels underneath too ... i'll probably buy the quilted sheet too just to have all our bases covered while out of town.  Smile  and yeah i plan to go to the store to check out how other ones work but i really want to make the free one work!
