What Breast Pump will you be using?

Re: What Breast Pump will you be using?

  • Medela Pump In Style because it's covered by our insurance.  I really wanted the Ameda one b/c of the closed system....but since the PIS is free...I'll take it! :)

  • Ameda Purely Yours Double electric pump (packaged and sold as the Lasinoh brand at BRU and Target). Because multiple user reviews and Baby Bargains reviewed this as just as good as the competetor by Medela, but its over $100 cheaper. Baby Bargains gave it an "A".

I am going with the double electric because I will be going back to work 3 days/wk after maternity leave is up.

  • We've registered for the Medela Pump In Style, though I can't imagine anyone will buy it from the registry. But we can use the completion discount if nothing else!! I'll be going back to work after 8 weeks, and I want to EBF, so I'll need a really good pump in order to do it regularly at work.

Baby Bargains recommends the Lansinoh pump as a good, less expensive Medela alternative, so when it comes time to actually buy it I'll give that one a second look.

  • The Pump In Style. I chose it orginally because I had heard great things about it, then I found out that my hospital is particpating in some sort of study and that I'll be recieving it for free just for taking the breastfeeding class and speaking with the lactation specialist. =)

  • I chose the Medela Pump in Style because of all the good reviews it had.  I  bought it on ebay-it was brand new in package for about $100.00 less than anywhere else I have seen.

  • Playtex double electric breast pump. I chose it because it was cheaper than Medela and it got really good reviews. I'm so nervous to try it out. I hope it's a good one!
  • I didn't want to fork out the money on a Medela (my choice when PG with DD) because I wasn't sure I was oing to be able to BF and one day I came across a great sale at BRU on the Avent Isis ?single electric and bought it just to have something.

At the hospital I tried their Medela and rented one for a month. It hurt sooo bad and I was barely getting 2 oz combined. I was just about to give up when I thought I'd give the Isis a try and it was heaven... pain-free and got so much milk the very first time I tried it.

Anyway, my point is that I learned that waiting until after baby may be a good option. Most hospitals rent or just let you use their pump while you're there so give them a go to see how they feel (the?attachments?for their Medela pumps are the same as the pump you can buy at the store).

This time I'd love to have the double Isis but I'll wait until the baby is here.

I did hear on reviews it was noisey for working moms in a office setting trying to pump etc.. but figured at home it wouldnt matter...

i only got the single one as well.. i couldnt decide so i went with the one i originally registered for...

im gonna keep researching just incase

  • I'm looking at the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra. It just came out and I liked the fact that it was a closed system and BPA free.

I didnt know the Ameda was sold as the Lasinoh! I have been watching ebay for a cheaper Ameda but maybe Ill just go to walmart. Its the exact same? How did you find out about that? Thanks!

  • lanisnoh double electric pump - it's the EXACT same pump as the ameda purely yours but a lot cheaper.  it just doesn't come with the carry bag and is a different color.

check out baby bargains that's where i learned about the lanisnoh.  plus you can order one from drugstore.com for about $50 cheaper than it is in stores. (so a little more than $100) which is a GREAT price!

  • Medela Pump n' Style.  I heard a lot of good stuff on Medela so I figured what the hell.  It was $279 but we signed up for a BRU credit card and got 15% off plus we had a coupon.  Brought the price down to where it was do-able.  These boobies of mine better work and not complain!  lol
  • Medela Pump In Style because a) it's gotten good reviews on these boards and on BRU and b) my husband's company gives a discount so the cost is about 50% of what it retails for in stores.  If not for the discount, I would have gotten the Lanisoh double electric, which I have also heard good things about.
