For those that don't know my story, DH & I are TTC #2 via IVF with ICSI. We did this for our DD. I started 300 iui of Follistim and 3 vials of Menopur last night. I felt nauseous, really hot at night and just crappy. I just gave myself the shots for tonight and again feel terrible. I don't remember it being this bad last time, but I also remember last time I started off on much lower dosages (I was initially at 150 of follistim and don't think I started menopur until a few days into stims).
Did anyone else get these side effects? Just want to make sure it's nothing to be overly concerned about.
I will say I'm super proud of myself though: DH has been out the past 2 nights and normally he gives me the meds cause I hate needles, blood, etc. Amazingly I've been able to do 3 shots each night on my own these 2 nights and not completely flip out about it.
Re: Only day 2 of stims and meds are kicking my butt
Good for you giving yourself the injections! You shoulkd bre proud of yourself.
I don't have any experience with those drugs, so I can't comment on the side effects.
Good Luck!!
My RE said that your side effects can vary tremendously from IVF cycle to cycle. Since it has been awhile since your first IVF, you could have completely different or worse symptoms even on a lower dose. Im sorry that you are feeling yucky, but I dont think it is anything to be concerned about.
Good job on giving yourself the shots. I have only done the Lupron subqs, I dont know if I could do the Menopur / Follistim on my own. You should be proud of yourself!
Don't you feel proud of yourself when you do those shots? You can do anything!
As for the side effects, there is a wide range of normal, and I think you're within it. Sorry you're feeling yucky - I definitely get hot flashes and nausea, but usually a little later. I would mention it to your RE when you go in for your next u/s just to be reassured.
GL with your cycle!
Good for you for giving yourself the injections!
As for the S/E... I have generally felt as you've described, except that I usually don't feel sick to my stomach.
Good luck to you!!!
Sorry your meds are kicking your butt. My body usually takes a few days to adjust. It always seems that as soon as I adjust, I'm on to the next med. For me, Estrace is the devil!! I hate it, hate it, hate it. I'm so weepy and depressed the entire time. Normally, the injections (Follistim, Lupron, HCG) don't bother me. Ovidrel makes me look like a blimp ,and PIO makes me really sleepy.
Congrats on doing your own shots and good luck!
sorry i have no experience with those drugs but i'm sorry they are kicking your but
and good for you for giving yourself your injectiions. i say yay! needles suck and the knowing that you are injecting yourself with something thats going to make yourself feel yucky is even harder. just remember its all for a good cause and will be sooooo worth it when you get your BFP
