Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Clothing size question

Okay, I can't figure this out.  When I bought 9 mos size for EK, was that considered 6-9 or what?  My mom was buying some clothes for DD for Christmas, and she bought 12 mos, which DD will be at that time.  Right now she's in Carter's 9 mos.  She has switched sizes at 3, 6, and 9 months.  I wish Carter's would go back to putting the range on their clothes.  Back when the boys were little, you could buy 0-3, 3-6, etc.  It's so confusing now!

Re: Clothing size question

  • The Carter's number is the high end. So Carters 9m is 6-9m. 12m would be 9-12m.

It is confusing for sure. I wish they had the weights/lengths on the label, that would make it easier. Once you cut the pricetag off you are on your own!

  • For tops and onesies my kids outgrows the size at that number (outgrows the 9 months when he is 9 months).  I have found the pants lag behind (still in his 9 month pants at almost 12 months - the 12 month pants are just too long).
  • So I have no idea what size she will be wearing at 12 mos.  I feel like 18 months will be too big for her, but I'm afraid 12 mos will be too small.  Ugh.
  • Naw, I bet it will actually be fine. The bigger the sizes are the longer they stay in them.  Even my SIL's humungous babies eventually caught up (or fell back) to the "right" size for their age, around a year.
  • Clothing sizes are ALL OVER THE place for our kids, haha.

Ha ha - I found it just the opposite... DD has long legs, so she wears mostly 9 month onesies/tops, but 9 month pants look like capris on her.
