Need advise on natural cold remedies...

So after a week of sanitizing the house to keep away from my DH's cold...it finally caught me!   I talked to my nurse today and she said that I would be fine taking Tylenol cold & sinus or metaucil.  The problem is that I have a very weak system and when I took medication prior to being pregnant it always made me feel worse and I was confined to bed for a day or 2.  I'm to scared to take it while pregnant...

Does anyone have any natural cold remedies?

I used saline drops/spray for my nose and that seemed to dry me up and I was much less miserable.  Also, I drank some Monster C drinks by Odwalla and get some rest.  Hope you feel better soon.

I am feeling your pain.  I have the worst head cold right now.  My head feels like it's going to explode, I am sneezing like crazy and blowing my nose every two minutes.  I am taking absolutely NOTHING for it either.  I'm too scared to.  I have just been eating halls and keeping the tissues close.  Aren't summer colds the worst anyway???

I had a bad one about a month ago and my doctor STRESSED not to do anything weird like OTC herbal treatments.. other than plain old chicken soup.  

But she did say a little Dayquil was fine... but not the Nyquil.  Nothing with aspirin, etc.  Also, Tylenol Cold and Flu was okay as long as you don't go crazy with it.

When I had my really bad cold/cough I used the saline nose spray, vicks vapor rub on my chest and took a few regular tylenol.  I did break down and take a few doses of robitussin cough syrup at the end, but that was on week four of my cough when I was desperate!  Good luck - pregnant sickness is the worst!!

Thanks ladies.  I agree to stay away form herbal remedies. I broke down and took 1/2 a dose of Tylenol cold.  I actually feel a lot better, tonight it's chicken soup and OJ.

Try sipping on honey and a large squeeze of lemon juice in hot water.

 Almost like a hot toddy but without the whiskey?

 

And I have also heard stay away from all herbal remedies.
