I'm trying to keep DD rear facing as long as possible, but was curious about the guidelings and what others are doing. (I know it is in the manual/on the seat, but I don't have it handy.)

We have DD rear-facing in a Roundabout and a Marathon. We will turn her when she reaches the weight limit or she has less than 1" of shell left above her head.
i cant think of the guidelines, but we turned DD around 15 or 16 months. her legs were long and cramped in the back. my bigger concern was that with it getting warm, we couldnt get the air conditioner in the car to get back to her rear facing. she was always 8 billion degrees when we got her out, even when it was barely 80 outside.
I was planning on keeping DS rear facing as long as possible as well in our Triumph but his legs / feet are getting jammed into the backseat and our pedi said that once that starts happening to turn him around, plus he is usually boiling hot when we get him out of the carseat on trips more then 10min since the air conditioning hardly reaches him. So it looks like we will be turning him around very soon.

I believe it is 35 lbs. Not sure on the height restriction. We will keep him RF until new baby arrives. It just won't be possible to have them both RF, unless my knees will be in the dashboard. I have a small car. Boo.
Ditto PP. 35lbs is what I remember. The height restiction is pretty much a non issue because they have to be really tall (1 inch from top) and by then they should already be 35lbs.
DD is RF at 18 months and I asked both the Dr and the Firestation and both said to keep her RF till she reaches the limit that if her legs are bunched she will find a way to keep them comfy. Right now she just barely touches the back of the seat and usually sits indian style so I don't forsee a problem.
My guy is 26 pounds now but almost to the max height---he has maybe another half inch or so. So we'll probably be turning it around very quickly. The pedi told us we could as well (and she is all for keeping them rf'ing for two years). I really wanted to reach 15 months but I know it won't be safest for him at that point.
Glad to hear others are having the issue with heat---didn't think of the AC not reaching him--I keep it really high so it gets back there....but man, he gets so hot!

With some seats this is not the case. DD will outgrow the rear-facing height of her roundabout WAY before she even comes close to the weight limit.
We have that carseat and the manual said up to 35 lbs - we just checked manual yesterday since my son had 1 year check up and pedi said it's ok to switch to forward facing. We're keeping son rear facing as long as possible.
