Has anyone had a UTI while PG??
I am sooooo frustrated with all of this domino effect of infections lately--2 weeks ago I had to go in and found out I had a bacterial infection (was on an antibiotic for 10 days); 1 week later, I go in b/c I had burning--5 days after that they call and say oh yes, I do have a UTI now and I'm back on antibiotic for another 10 days!
I was reading Dr. Luke's and was terrified by the mentioning that a UTI can trigger PTL! I took an FFN 2 weeks ago which came back neg., but I am still sick with worry!!
Any advice?? Any hopeful stories that can help ease my worries about this darn infection?!
I just don't get it--I drink sooooo much water! Frustrated!!!!
Re: UTI Q
A few weeks ago my doc's office called to tell me I had a UTI. Since I didn't have any symptoms of one, I have to do a sterile urine sample once a month due to fear of PTL later on. Because of the UTI, I had to take Keflex. While on that, I got the 1st yeast infection of my life : ( (maybe it's a Keflex thing, because my mom also got her 1st on Keflex last year)
Since you've been on antibiotics a lot lately, try to eat lots of yogurt!! It helps replace the "good" bacteria in your body that is getting wiped out from the antibiotic. Good luck! : )
I can't remember for sure, but I think it was you that was questioning on going in right? Seems to be around 5 days ago for the post...I'm glad you went in, ESPECIALLY since it was in fact an UTI infection.
I haven't had those while pregnant, BUT for some odd reason I got two last year really close together- I was told by the Dr.'s office to get some cranberry juice, not the Ocean Spray type, but the one you would get in the organic or specialty food section that is 100% cranberries it's really sour so my advice is to take it mixed with some water....I know here in Canada it was called "Just Jus" or something to that effect and I was able to get it at the local grocery store for around 7$ or 8$ for a glass bottle.
During my pregnancy if I "thought" perhaps I might be starting one I would drink it- now doesn't mean that's what it was, but sometimes I got real paranoid so I would rink a little bit- that's my only tip on UTI's hope it helps!
LovesTravel--yes, that was me posting a few days back. I went in and they said nothing about another infection just said the burning was probably caused from the irritation of antibiotics/ the bacterial infection I was dealing with....
Lo and behold though, 5 days later, the dr's nurse calls and says "you do actually have a UTI"---rrrrr. I just wish I would have known when I went in!! I've never waited 5 days to leave something untreated!! I'm just praying this is all over with soon--my biggest fear is PTL!
