Non-Clikcy Poll (can't at work) re: EBFing

If you EBF what is your practice:

Feed on one side, pump on the other.  If so, how much do you get on the pumped side?

Feed on both sides, don't pump.  If so, how long do they nurse for?

Alternate between both options.

I am trying to figure out what will be more efficient since I'm back to work and am curious to see what you ladies get for amounts.

TIA!!!

  • I was EBF and switching sides and feeding for a total of 1/2 hour or so.  But since for work I will need to leave him every once in awhile I have been feeding him on one side in the am (because am you have the most) and then pumping the other side.  I get from 3-4 oz from that one side.  So if I do that twice I can have a full bottle, it works so far but I know I will need more if I leave him longer.  Basically you can build up your supply by doing this all day too, I just haven't yet. Hope this helps.

  • I feed on one side w/ my LO and I don't pump the other side.  I pump at work 3 times.  I nurse my LO about 4 times and he gets 3 bottles at daycare.  I hate to pump and this is the least I have to pump to get what I need for him.  GL
  • She is sleeping about 6-7 hours at night right now.  When I wake up sometimes I am so full I feel like I can't feed her.  So I pump, and usually get about 10 oz.  And I will give her 5 and keep 5 in the fridge or freezer.  During the day she drains me every time.  Sometimes however if I feel full and I know she will want to eat soon I pump and give her a bottle.  Sometimes I just feel like I need to keep my boobs in my shirt :-)
