Gripe water or Mylicon ?

Hi ladies!

Have you had better luck with one or the other? and why ?  Which do you think is "safer" for little tummies?

 TIA

Re: Gripe water or Mylicon ?

  • We had luck with Gripe water so we tried little tummies (the makers of gripe water) gas drops & they're working! Mylicon didn't do very much for Peyton. Its trial & error. I heard Walgreens had some great gas drops too...

  • I just tried Mylicon for the first time yesterday and DS was so much happier after a feeding and slept better last night.
  • not sure which is safer, but DD had terrible tummy & gas problems, and mylicon (target brand) has worked wonders, and the target brand is muchhh cheaper, and its the same stuff!

  • Gripe water works better for my son...My pedi said they were both safe enough to give before each feeding.
  • Gripe water has always worked better for DD.

  • We use Gripe Water when my son seems to have an upset tummy/reflux issues, and Mylicon when he's super gassy. Both work well for their uses. I'm not a big medicine person and usually prefer to go the more "natural" route so I would rather use Gripe Water more frequently, but my LO's tummy has different ideas. Plus, the GW has a much higher dose and that can be kind of difficult to get into him if he's not interested in eating. You can give the Mylicon up to 12 times a day, and the Gripe Water up to 6 (if I recall correctly).
