How much weight do you put on initials?

When discussing or thinking about names, how much weight do you put on their initials?

Re: How much weight do you put on initials?

  • not that much.  i would only be concerned if the initials spelled a "bad" word like A-S-S.

    I agree?

  • If I can come up with something fun as a byproduct, then I'm happy with it. You might want to watch out for initials (in girls) that could change to be "bad" once they get married. For example, my first two initials are S.E. My parents would joke about how I couldn't date anyone whose last name started with X (not that it was that common) but it would make initialing things pretty eventful. :-)
  • None, unless the initials are profane. ?***, ASS, CNT, etc.

My son's initials are ALF. ?A few people have commented but I really don't care at all. ??

  • I only place weight on initials if it spells something offensive or potentially "bad".

  • We've thought about initials because our last name starts with L, so our kid could have LOL for their intials, which we find hilarious (pun intended).  We also could have AOL or ALL.
