TTC After a Loss

Do OPKs really expire in 30 days?

I bought the First Response Daily Ovulation Kit last month - it contains 20 test sticks and you are supposed to use one per day every day from the end of your period until you ovulate.  They say you are not supposed to use them after 30 days from the date you opened them.  I have 7 left.  Do I really have to throw these away and go buy more or is this just a ploy to sell more kits?

  • I never head that. It would be crazy to have to waste them. I always use them the next month if any are left over.

  • are they each in their own little package?? or is it just a box with a bunch of tests? I had some that they all came in a tube thing and you have to throw them out after 30 days bc the air can mess with them and give you wrong results if they are sealed in their own package I would keep them if not sadly you gotta toss em and get new ones.
  • All 20 came in a resealable pouch.  I re-sealed them each time I got one out.  So, it's the air getting to them that messes with them? I am trying to weigh my being frugal with my strong desire to have accurate results.

Im pretty sure its the air...... I mean its up to you but since its only 7 I would just toss em and get more its not like it 17 and you just opended them..... but its up to you.

  • I'd probably toss them too. I wouldn't want them to give me inaccurate results. Do you know what you cycle length usually is?

I will toss them, just wondered if anyone knew why they expire so quickly or if it's just a way to get you to buy more tests. My cycle is about 29-30 days now.  I have ovulated on days 19 and 17, but before the m/c, I ovulated around day 14.  I think I can safely go back to the 7 day test and begin testing on day 12.
