False positive on CBE digital HPT?! Ugh.

Ok, internally I know that I should step away from the pee sticks.  But I can't.

I've had the brilliant idea to continue to POAS after getting the "pregnant" sign on CBE Friday morning.  I've since continued to test on those ridiculous internet cheapies but never get a line.  Then, I decide to get a two pack of Answer brand HPT (never used this brand before but wanted pink dye) and took it just now with a negative result.  I'm hoping that it's because my urine was diluted. 

I'll test again in the morning with FMU but I'm at a loss as to what to think.  Aside from spotting at 9-11 DPO, that was the only issue.  I have a crampy feeling overall, some nausea and tiredness but wonder if that is psychosomatic.  I stopped charting this a.m., too.  Ugh.  I cleverly google "false positives on a CBE digital" and a plethora pop up.

Edit:  If it's negative tomorrow, the doctor's office wants a blood test.  Fingers crossed...toes, too. The rest of this day and night is going to drag slowly.

Hi.  I don't think that CBE digitals give 'false' positives.  I think that many of the ones you read about are actually early pregnancies that didn't completely implant.  NOW, of course there are many other reasons, like the diluted urine that you mention, that could cause different tests to have different answers.  And even within a single package test sensitivity seems to vary. And some people on the 35+ pregnancy board told me that they NEVER got a positive on a non-digital and went on to have a healthy baby.  So weird. 

But, I would definitely get the blood test to find out your HCG level. I really don't think you get positive tests without HCG (which means you had some).  You just need to know how much and how fast it is rising.

Good luck to you!  So sorry you are getting immediate confirmation.  This whole TTC thing is so stressful, even with a BFP!

Seriously, this board might be the most "kumbaya".  This is exactly what I didn't think that I truly needed (make sense?)  Thank you so much for the kind words!

I think the same thing that GymDogFran said. You need to have HCG in your system to get a + pg test. That said, when I got a + on CBE digital I was fearful that the test gave me a false positive and that maybe the "not" just wasn't working. I tested the next day again with CBE digital and got a BFN.  But using the same FMU I tested with the FR gold digital and got a yes. So it may depend on your HCG level.  Good luck tomorrow.
