I might get to go to Boston!!!

My half sister just had her 1sy baby this morning and my dad wants to take Kenley and me up to see her!  We'd get to do a little sight seeing while up there!  I'm so excited...I've never been to Boston!

Care to share some things we HAVE to do while there???

  • Fun! We went to Boston when I was pg with DS. Don't rent a car! It's a pain to get around on your own, but public transportation is great. We walked all over the place and saw some great stuff. The Freedom Trail is a good way to see a bunch of things almost all at once.

  • EAT EAT EAT!!!

    Specifically some awesome 'chow-dah'  :)

  • I went to Boston in 07 and really enjoyed it.  If you have time to do the Freedom Trail (I think that's what its called) its worth it.  It takes you to all the major landmarks.  There is a lot to see and do there, so have fun!
  • Oh, and it's been a while, but the Boston Children's Museum is AWESOME (well, at least it was in 1990 when I went - I was in 4th grade, lol).

  • Okay here you go:  The freedom trail is awesome (but I'm a history nerd), the Children's Museum, The Museum of Science, and the Aquarium are all excellent.  I agree with the person who said don't rent a car, but ONLY if you are staying in the city.  If you're staying outside the city a car would be preferable.  You must go to Fenway.

As for food: the North End has great Italian food, almost everywhere has great seafood, and the South End has great trendy restaurants.

  • I lived in Beantown for a summer.  Still have some friends there.  Go to the North End of Boston, "Little Italy", great atmosphere, food, etc.  Street festivals all summer.

The Harvard Arboretum is gorgeous, near Jamaica Way.

  • Take a walk on the Esplanade (the park that's on the Charles River).  There are playgrounds and even a wading pool, and it's beautiful!!

  • Eat a cannoli from mike's pastry in the North End. If you like to shop, stroll down Newbury Street, and enjoy a day in the Public Gardens. Also, haven't done it, but my brother likes to take my nephew out to Castle Island. Yes, the museums are fun, but save them for a rainy day if there is one. It's such a great city to be outdoors in. We've had some lousy weather this summer, but it's been improving! Have fun and let me know if you want more specifics.
  • Take a Duck Tour of the city :)

And I also second visiting the Public Garden and taking Kenley on the Swan Boats.

Listen to Amrice and you're covered.

    YAY! :)

ETA: You should also check out Newbury St for shopping and trendy cafe type places. AND also the Boston Public Library is amazing. If you're here when it's nice, you should look into a duck tour. But make sure you pee before you get on because it sucks to be stuck on the river and needing to pee and land is soooooooooo far away (ok not far but it sure feels it). Trust me on this. ;)
