Today was Pumpkin's first day of the third grade. She is also at a new school. Finances would not allow her to attend the same private school she has been going to for the past 3 years, and so she is attending public school for the first time. She is such a strong, sweet, smart girl. When I told her (this summer) she had to change schools, I broke down and cried. She said, "Mom don't be upset, it will be fine, and I will get to wear whatever I want to school. No more uniforms." She topped it off with a smile and a hug. Fast forward to this morning, she was nervous, but she still smiled and said she was excited. As for me, I had to fight back tears when I left the school this morning. I am having a hard time fighting them back now.
On top of that, my house is ripped apart from renovations. I bought new floors on clearance at Lumber Liquidators and my dad and two carpenter friends could not get the floors to fit together correctly. These three men have all laid laminate floors before, several times, so I can only imagine the floors are defective, and that would explain why they were such a good deal. The receipt says all clearance sales are final, and if they don't take them back, I will be stuck with 1100 sq feet of useless defective floors. And I will have to come out of pocket AGAIN and buy floors. I don't have the funds to do that, but I can't live without floors. UGH! ![]()
Holy crap! I just realized that I have less than 50 days until my EDD. I have got to get my house in order before LO comes!!
Re: I'm a stressed hormonal mess today.... (long)
Wow, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree does it? She has a great attitude and a big heart (just like her mother!) Kids are resilient. Look how she is concentrating on the positive - she doesn't have to wear a uniform and gets to wear her own clothes! lol. How cool is that for a 3rd grade girl? Undoubtedly, there will be many "new" kids at school today. Even kids that have been there before will meet kids they've never known because they've been in different classes. This is actually a great time to switch schools. She will meet tons of new friends! Please let us know how her day went.
Hang in there, Shelley!
::hugs:: Sounds like Pumpkin is going to shine at her new school! With a cheery attitude like that, she's bound to make lots of new friends (no uniforms is a bonus!). As for the floors, definitely fight for replacement flooring. Clearance is one things, defective is a whole other story.
Good luck to you and let us know how her first day went. Chances are she's already having fun by now
I would argue about the floor also. That is defective is not something you would have been able to discern before your purchase.
I'm sure your daughter will do great at her new school. Kids make new friends so easily at that age and it sounds like she has a great attitude.
Your daughter seems like an exceptional young lady and she'll do just fine in public school. (And wow about school starting in August! In NJ it starts in September.) You're a good mom and it shows in Peanut.
As for the floors... I hope that gets all cleared up for you. Try not to stress too much, OK? (((HUG)))

Oh my! what a wonderful daughter you have there. Too adorable and so smart.I'm sure she's having a blast right now and can't wait to come home to tell you all about! Please fill us in too!

I would also argue about the floors. I'm sure when they hear there are issues, they won't hesitate to help you out.
Don't stress too much, these are little minor issues and your body needs to relax for LO.
Everyone's already given all the great support, so I'll just ditto on your daughter rocking. Defective != clearance, they should be able to do something for you?
Everything will get done, try not to worry!
