Re: Favorite names that are too odd

  • I like Chase, Sawyer, and Sloan for girls.  DH would never ever go for any of them.

I like more traditional boy names, so there isn't an odd boy name that I would give my child...however, I do kind of like Malakai and that's a little unusual.

I do love names like Aoife, Saoirse, Niamh, Eimear, Seamus, Eoin though...

How do you pronounce these names?

It would be something like Ee-fa (Aoife), Sear-sha (Saoirse), Neev (Niamh), Ee-mer (Eimear) - all girls. Shay-muss (Seamus) and O-in (Eoin) - boys.

www.babynamesofireland.com is a great page for Irish names, there's even an audio with Frank McCourt telling you how the names are pronounced

    Girl: Matilda, Piper

    Boy: Norman

To me, Piper isn't odd... that is what we are naming our LO!  But, some have a different gauge to what is odd and what isn't... :)

Yep, I know a little Piper and my daughter is Matilda!  Not odd at all!
