Multiple Registries?

I'd registered at Amazon.com, 'cause you know, they have freaking everything, but my Mom insisted that her friends would want to be able to walk into a store, so I'm doing a second registry at a local baby shop.

The question is - do I double up on the registry items?   Our friends are bound to want to order online, while the older folks will probably want to browse the store in person.   I know the obvious answer is BRU where you can do both, but we like to make things more difficult on ourselves.   (Actually, we had already chosen a bunch of items on our Amazon registry that aren't available @ BRU, and we've grown quite attached to them.)

Re: Multiple Registries?

  • I would say anything you can move to Babies R Us, do it. It's OK to have multiple registries.

I knew a majority of the people at my shower will go in the day before or so and physically buy something, so I made sure it was mostly in-store items.

  • I've had both my showers. We registered at BRU and myregistry.com. I really thought my friends would be more apt to buy online at myregistry, but there were barely any takers there at all. Pretty much everyone bought at BRU or got us BRU gift certificates.
  • I registered at BRU and on Amazon and was completely bummed when the only person who purchased from the Amazon registry was my mom!  I think most everyone makes their purchases at the last moment, so i wouldn't expect that much from the online registry.

  • Yep, very few people purchase things online for registries!!  I would move as much as you can, even do duplicates of stuff over to BRU or even Target.

  • I guess what I'm more concerned about is doubling up on items between the two registries though - like different people shopping the different registries and buying the same gift twice.   Does that make sense?   Maybe I just shouldn't worry about it.   I can always return duplicates if I need to, I just don't want anyone to be embarrassed.
  • For wedding gifts - I online shop. For shower gifts (wedding or baby) I go to the store. I think 99% of my friends are like this. I would keep only the things that are JUST at Amazon on there, and do everything else at BRU. And, in terms of doubling up, you can monitor that if it is just a few things.
